Things are as they should be. A symphony by Sibelius could have taken many different turns to prevent it being the perfect familiar Sibelius
symphony that we already know, but self-evidently it didn't ... couldn't.

I love these little posts, Des, so calming, the opposite of anxious, tense Zed.

Hey - I'm seeing Nicholas Roeg tomorrow, in the flesh! With his Puffball!

Didn't mean it too seriously, that one. Just playing with palindromics. Er, I think.

Ally - I intend to! And for photographing Masque of the Red Death, and directing Walkabout, and Man Who Fell To Earth, and even Witches. He's a huge influence on me, this guy - I can't wait.

Tell him PERFORMANCE is a hollow over-rated rock video. He won't mind -- he walked away from it and left someone else to direct.

Tony, you know me so well. :-)

Where are you seeing Roeg? I'll bet he's fascinating.

I went an hour early, and just before it was due to start I was left in this tiny box corridor, a few feet by a few feet. In walks Roeg, breezing by to go down to the bar. I don't speak and he doesn't really see me.
I sit near the front of the screen and he comes in. He seems sincerealy awed by the presence of so many young people, and though he doesn't say too much and maybe finds it difficult to put his words together I get the impression that the man is serene and happy at this stage of life, content with what he's done. No q&a, just an intro, no autographs or chance to speak with him. Sad but not bad; he said some stuff I really connected with, and the movie had images that could have been ones I've had in my own mind's eye from time to time, like somewhere at some point our dreams have overlapped. I'm glad I got to see him - he's eighty and from another time, and looked frail, and the chance might never come again.
