Aw, hell...

This is terrible news. I'd heard last year that O'Bannon was quite ill from Crohn's Disease. So sad. He was one of my favourite screenwriters.

Dark Star, Alien (obviously), but also the wonderful Charles Dexter Ward adaptation, The Resurrected, and the brilliantly comedic Return of the Living Dead.

First Naschy, now Dan O'Bannon. sigh...

RIP Dan.

Let's not forget DEAD AND BURIED, which is a wonderful EC-style horror film.

A great shame - "Dark Star" was wonderful, as was "Blue Thunder" and "Return Of The Living Dead", but I'm with Gary, "Dead & Buried" is my favourite. The whole thing gives me the creeps now, even having watched the extras to see how they did most of it!

Amen! I adore that movie. ("Come, Dan, let me fix those for you.") I think I may just screen it tonight...

D'oh! I didn't like Dead and Buried, though it does have one of my all time favourite horor moments - 'Bury me!' That decks me, that bit.

Another sad loss...
Let's not forget 'Lifeforce' but 'Dark Star' will always be my favourite.

I rewatched the Alien commentary with him and Ron Schusett this weekend- what a duo they were.
