Joel Lane's new collection arrived today from Ex Occidente, and much like the man himself, it's a slim yet gorgeous specemin. Seriously, folks, this is a beautiful volume. |

My copies are in the post – glad you like the way it looks, Zed. The original cover illustration had to be scrapped due to repro problems, but I don't think anyone will be disappointed by the new cover. This is a book of 12 previously published but uncollected stories, plus 2 new short-short stories, coming to 43,000 words in all. I picked the best 12 from over 60 options, so I hope no-one feels the brew contains any traces of barrel. |

Was going to wait for copies to show up at Cold Tonnage, but went ahead and ordered it from Ex Occidente. It's shaping up to be a really, really good year for quality supernatural/horror short story collections. |

I also received it, together with Ray Russel's novella. It looks splendid. If I were not doing some other addictive reading, I would have started the Joel Lane collection immediately. > Steve - who's publishing your collection? tell me; tell me now. Must. Have. It. Ex Occidente again (unless Steve has another book planned as well). See: http://www.exocccidente.com/momentofpanic.html Next year Dan really merits the "small press of the year" award. His books are very nicely designed and he's quickly building a great portfolio of modern and more classic yet special authors who wrote in other languages (Ray, Seignolle, Brion...). |

Dan Ghetu's books are beautiful. It's just a shame he sticks them in jiffy bags. IMHO, they're the most attractive books on the market. |

Just received a few copies by airmail... and it looks very nice indeed. The cover design is more disturbing than the original choice, and there's a sombre frontispiece illustration. If Factory Records had published books, they might have looked like this. |

My copy from Ex Occidente arrived this morning. It was in a jiffy bag, but well protected by a double layer of bubble wrap, so no bumps or blemishes. A shame they couldn't go with the original cover illustration, as I think that would have made it an even more attractive volume. Still, 14 short stories by Joel Lane, a mere 5 of which I've previously read - I ain't about to start complaining ... |

Ramsey – I don't know. It may just be that they represent a generation of Eastern European artists who are getting old now, rather in the way that surviving pulp authors were a disappearing generation through the 1980s and 1990s – now, very few remain. Or it may be that Dan was seeing commemorative exhibitions or publications. Franciszek Starowieyski passed away this year, so Dan may have been considering his artwork while he was still alive. |

My copy of The Terrible Changes arrived today, and I'm happy to report it was well-packed and in perfect condition. It is a beautifully designed book.
