Good news indeed. I watched the recent tv broadcast a few weeks back; it was the first time I'd seen the film since some time in the 'seventies. I found the first 15-20 minutes a little cringeworthy ("black leather, black leather, crash crash crash" etc.), and the scene where Macdonald Carey makes a pass at Shirley Anne Field a little unbelievable, given the differences in their ages (his was 50, but he looked 60, and hers was 25, although I think her character was meant to be younger (19?)). However, all that aside, a very effective film indeed overall, and one I shall be buying. |
