I'm only up to the 5th chapter, but I can safely say this is a truly amazing alternate / real fiction portrait of mid-1960s London - and Mick Jagger and the Stones:

I liked the look of this when I got the blurb from Chomu to put on the BFS site. But I haven't bought it yet (one of the problems of my new role doing the online news for the BFS is that I keep seeing interesting books .. and I keep spending money on them!).

You have a good idea about my reading likes, Des - do you think this would be one for me? The late 60s/early 70s is "my" era.

It's very good on the mid-60s, Stones, The Pretty Things and Carnaby St etc etc ---- in parallel with a wonderful SF-type vision of the present, post-Blair London.
The style is very rich but generally accessible. I'm inclined to call it a masterpiece - but I'm not yet halfway.

I'd not heard of this until you posted, Des, but it sounds right up my (Carnaby) street, me being, as a friend put it the other day, 'of a certain age'!

This one from Chomu Press sounds rather tempting too:
