Me again, and another pamphlet that might possibly be of interest to a few of you:

http://www.flarestackpoets.co.uk/page12.htm

Subtitled 'Poems of desire', Instinct contains 24 pages of poems that were written over 25 years. Here is erotic poetry for the lonely, the introverted, those seeking a hibernation partner for a cold climate.

Especially hedgehogs. (No, folks, there's no hedgehog porn. Not that I've read so far, anyway.)

I've been dipping in and out of it and, as you'd expect, it's a great little collection- sometimes funny, sometimes tender, sometimes sad. Liking it a lot.

There just isn't enough good hedgehog porn out there.

I'm tempted to say 'you'd know.' So I will.

I'm no expert on hedgerow sexuality.

Oh, you say so, Weber.

Can I just clarify that the pamphlet contains no reference to the sex lives of small rodents or insectivores, and no such creatures were harmed in its writing or production? Thanks.

My subscription to the NRA (National Rodentophile Association) came throught today. In their latest brochure they open with a poem.

If you like looking at lemming or molesting mink
take a look at our brochue and se what you think.
You want to roger a rabbit or be rude with a rat?
We cater for all taste including fruitbat.

Just to emphasise (again) that only human erotic activity (or inactivity) is featured in the poems in Instinct.

(Sigh.) Reminds me of a colleague who said that in the context of a discussion with some friends about sex toys, she had mentioned that she kept a Rabbit in her bedside cabinet. Cue several minutes of anxious queries about the poor little bunny's food, welfare and comfort.

This thread has just made me laugh out loud - thanks, guys!

Good luck with the poetry book, Joel. I have to confess I'm not a poetry fan, so it's not for me. But I have heard people who know about these things rave about your poetry, so I hope it does well.

Thanks for these kind words, Des.

I particularly appreciate "‘eroticism’ is not the right word and I can’t think of the right word". That's really the whole point.
