This film sounds excellent! (on at Cornerhouse, Manchester)

Billed as "a synthesis of Italian Giallo and Coppola’s 'The Conversation'" I think I might have to see if this is showing nearer to where I am. And Toby Jones stars. He played an excellent "bad Doctor" in an episode of Doctor Who a few seasons back, if I recall correctly.

Oooo, yes! It's on at Bradford's National Media Museum in September too. Must go to see it.

Yes, I saw this mentioned some time back. I believe Lord and Lady P. were going to see it at Frightfest over this last weekend.

I saw it at FrightFest, but I'm afraid I didn't get much from it. Handsomely made and well-performed, but over-long and eventually it rather fizzles out. It struck me as the sort of film critics and film-makers will love, but will leave the average punter cold.

Ah well, still going to give it a go anyway. I don't get out to the cinema anywhere near often enough nowadays and I do love the Pictureville cinema at NMM.

Probably the most disappointing film for me at FrightFest by a long way.

I intend to rewatch it asap in case I was just in a terrible mood but having thought about it a lot already it's probably best not to get me started on it.

Damn, this looked so good on paper. I thought it might fully explore the world of the sound engineer or foley artist, as seen in THE SHOUT.

Not quite, but a lot of fruit & veg does get abused.

Well, it is Sight and Sound's film of the month, or rather one of four such.

I can't wait to see this. Been waiting for ages for it to come out on general release...or go to DVD, because there's no way the local Multiplex will show it.

You can see it in Bradford at NMM later in September, Gary.

I think I'm going to give it a go myself - just to see what it's like. Will report back here once I do. Won't be till later in Sept though.

It's done very well indeed critically, so I'm sure I'm in the wrong, but I was utterly nonplussed by it. I'll be very interested to hear the opinions of people I respect (and yes I mean members of RCMB!)

It felt like a surreal Italian horror film directed by David Lynch so I abandoned any attempt to make sense of it and just let it wash over me. I thought the ending fizzled out and I was ultimately disappointed in it as a whole, but I still enjoyed it on a weird Kafkaesque level. I think if you approach it like a Lynch film and don't expect too much you'll get the most out of it.
