There's a poster doing the rounds at the moment proposing Godzilla for President Now this obviously can't happen since Godzilla is Japanese so he wouldn't be able to produce a valid birth certificate. I've been trying to think which monsters could stand instead of Godzilla. Remember they ned to be from America - so King Kong is out - being from Skull Island, which isn't part of the USA. The only ones I can think of are Q the Winged serpent, The Giant Gila monster, numerous giant ants, a giant Tarantula and the Graboids (tremors and its various sequels). There must be more... |

The Blob encompasses a number of American citizens. |

But that was from outer space. It might eat Americans but that still doesn't give it the right to run for president. |

Plus he's a mad scientist who shrinks people, rather than a giant monster |

He can only achieve governor of California status. |

The 50ft woman definitely counts as a contender. Probably doesn't have much chance though, being female and all that - we know the Americans don't want a woman president. Maybe she could run for VP |

She could run for governor of Alaska. More of a species than a monster, but how about CHUD? I would rather vote for a 'cannibalistic humanoid underground dweller' than Mitt Romney any day of the week... |

He's massive yet soft, and appears gleefully moronic and blundering - could be an appropriate candidate. |

Interesting Four Thought episode the other week on Radio 4 about power and its effect on the brain. All that dopamine (spelling?) has the potential of turning people with the power of a President into monsters. Anyway, I'd vote Bigfoot. If only to find out what Berlusconi wound up saying about him... |
