Oh well done, Lord P!
I'm really looking forward to curling up in bed to enjoy the wickedness that springs from your mind.
Especially if it involves bloodstained ballerinas.

You'd all better have a taster...

House of God or House of Horrors?

The dinner party gate-crashed by the undead…

The beautiful girl whose looks are maintained by acts of violence…

The crippled ballerina desperate for new legs…

The television producer who discovers that murder improves his ratings…

The hideous deaths in an old country house that lead to something far worse…

The Reverend Patrick Clements arrives at Chilminster Cathedral to take up his new post, only to find his introductory tour taking rather longer than anticipated. As the sun sets and the evening draws on Patrick meets staff and parishioners, and learns far more of the macabre history of the community he is destined to become a part of than any mortal man should hear. But these stories are only be the beginning of what has been planned for him.

John Llewellyn Probert’s follow up to his award-winning The Faculty of Terror provides five macabre tales bound together by a framework story, the climax of which will take its readers into the very depths of hell.
And back again.
Perhaps.

Thanks all! And thanks GF for putting this up. Yes indeedy - having just delivered the proof back to Gray Friars I'm very excited about this.

And as for 'the wickedness that springs from my mind' - I foresee much more of that to come.

Cool, John! And I too like that cover! I really wish they'd continue making frame-story horror features, like the old Amicus, etc. The recent TRICK 'R TREAT was to be one, and is said to be quite a good horror film... but it's been in the can for a couple years, I think, and still no certain date on when it will be released, alas (I've been told it was proved to be too cutting edge, because all its stories deal with kids, but who knows?...).

And we European continentals are excluded! Hmmm!
Now that the pound is barely higher than the euro!

Seriously, what would be the price with shipping to belgium? Preferably in pounds sterling :-)

Simon - I keep telling them to get me a piano at FantasyCon so we can play Horror Name That Tune. Otherwise it may be time for me to work out how to put things on YouTube. Oh and buy a video camera (I'm a bit of a Luddite - but why have a camera when there are court artists lying idle?) And that old wax cylinder machine I have probably isn't compatible with digital technology.

Thanks Huw! GF & I did debate the practicalities of doing a slipcased traycased velvet lined version that came with a grand piano and me playing it but maybe a CD is a more viable option.

Couldn't sleep last night, so I read the first two stories in "The Catacombs of Fear" - bloody excellent, it is, and nicely British (I was going to say English, but didn't want to upset the good Lord P.).
Looking forward to the remaning three tales, and also very much enjoying the framework story.
It has, for me, a 'seventies feel, simply because those portmanteau films were around in abundance then - the first tale set around a dinner party had me imagining the characters all wearing brown, with large lapels and vast cravats!

It is an absolutely excellent collection- it has all the panache and verve of FACULTY, but more heart. FACULTY gave me the feeling of a gifted writer experimenting, trying out different forms and styles to see what worked best, searching for his own individual voice. In CATACOMBS he's found that voice, and it's compelling.
