I have tentative plans. Tentative.

If so, there's talk of launching something there, but it's still too early to know for sure.

You're not going to release another epidemic, are you, Doctor? Not like FCon, 2007 - that bug's symptoms involved a raging thirst that could be satiated only by lager. Horrible thing. Never again, please.

I have every intention of crossing the pond for this. Whether my bank account has the same intention remains to be seen.

I'll be making a concrete decision sometime this summer. If it's financially feasible to attend, I'll be registering at that time. It will be great to see the folks from WHC '07 again, and to meet many others for the first time.

I'm hoping to have something to flog there as well, but that depends on a great many factors.

Of course if I don't have a book released, I can always just flog Simon. :-)

We're thinking about it, and hoping to make it over for 2010. It would be a good chance to get Tim over to England and let him see some of the Old Country. Since he's got dual citizenship, he could well find himself studying or working there when he's older.

John, you have to register, which will cost more when the convention is happening than it will now. The registration fee will probably go up in phases, every few months between now and then. That's how it usually works. But the final fees are not punitive, and people do turn up without registering in advance.

The really cool thing about a convention in your home town is that you don't need to pay hotel bills. In fact, if you have a spare room, you could always rent it out to a convention-goer or two. The room I mean.

Just registering for this now.

I'll probably try to get there early on saturday, and leave on the sunday. Just wanted to ask you lot which hotel you're staying in? I've never been to Brighton so I'm thinking of staying in the convention hotel (although that may be a mistake). Also, anyone know how far it is from the station?

We had a look at the convention hotel on Tripadvisor, and it seemed a bit grim, so we've booked up the one that's a few yards away, the Radisson Blu Hotel, which may be no better, but again, Tripadvisor commments seem to suggest it is.
The convention hotel (and Royal Blu) are about a ten or fifteen minute walk, downhill, from the station.

...there's a comment on the convention website that says "As of 7 July 2009, there are only 10 double rooms still available for booking at the Radisson Blu Hotel", so if you are to stay there instead of the convention one, make your move...
BTW, if you're thinking of coming by car, I'd suggest not - parking can be a (very expensive) nightmare in Brighton.

I've ruled it out, I'm afraid. I really wish it could have been otherwise, but it's not in the cards.

That said, I'm hoping to hit both WFC and WHC in 2011 and I'm hopeful some of the members here make it down for at least one of them.

Ooo, not seen that. Is it on the BFS forum? I might be able to get to it this time myself.

As for WHC, I'm registered (got in while it was at its cheapest) but I've no idea at this point whether I'll be able to go, so there's no point in booking accommodation so far in advance for me. I know someone who lives in Brighton, so I'm hoping he might be able to point me in the direction of a good B & B nearer the time!

Just registered Christopher, Tim, and myself for this; Tim will be a con runner, having done that at the last two World Fantasy cons. Looking forward to our first trip to England since 1999.
