Can't remember who on the board recommended this film but thank you very much for doing so. Just magnificent. Funny, beautiful and moving. The bit where Sam Neill (as Spanley) is remembering the thrill of the chase in his past life as a dog is utterly enchanting. |

It was me! I do hope Peter O'Toole wins his first (non-honourary) Oscar for it. |

I was shocked by how good Sam Neill is, as he isn't usually the hallmark of quality for a movie. |

Yeah, he normally sleepwalks through a role, but this may be his best performance. |

Like Proto, I thought Dean Spanley was excellent. And it's nice to see Lord Dunsany's novel back in print as a result of this adaptation. Sam Neill was good in the recent Iron Road too, which coincidentally also stars Peter O'Toole. |

I hadn't realized that the most notorious scene from POSSESSION had become the butt of a series of joke scorings... this one's pretty funny... er, I guess you could call it that.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ktM-NOnAp0 (btw: I think this film easily ranks in any top 10 horror movies ever list.) |

The reprint of Dean Spanley (along with the screenplay) is sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I'd like to see the film at some point as well. |
