Well if you buy this I'll have to stay at home and write another one won't I?

Planned launch will be at FantasyCon alongside Mr McMahon's next little opus. Obviously there will be readings, music, dance, a little wine, and lot of sartorial indulgence.

This sounds superb, John. Is there a little X-Files influence here? The cover art most certainly looks like there might be! Who did the cover?

If I manage to make it to FCon, I'll definitely be looking for a copy at the launch, along with asking you to sign my copies of "Catacombs .." and "Faculty .." for me if you'd be so kind.

Great news John... having seen the final cover, I'd love to see the mock-up you mentioned.

There really should be a velvet-covered edition of John's new book...

There is, he's had it tattooed aross his body so he is now literally a velvet covered edition of the book.

Oh I do love velvet, although it's been the black green and yellow striped blazer that's had everyone talking today.

Probably trying to decide which is the underlying colour.

Or is it a postmodern blazer in which the background turns out to be only stripes, the way a Dario Argento film turns out to be only tricksy set pieces?

Not that I'm maligning your fine blazer, John. No-one has to watch that for two hours. Unless they want to. And it would be more worth watching for that length of time than certain films one could mention.

One day I shall have a book with a velvet cover, but for FantasyCon this year people will just have to make do with the author

Caroline - sorry I forgot to say - Steve Upham did the cover himself, from a photographic mockup I did in my parents' back garden that included me, a toy rifle, and my Dad standing on a chair with a sheet over his head (which didn't make it into the finished illustration).

Perhaps I should have included the photo as an extra?
