At last! After all that promising stuff from Blackwood, James and Poe: the real thing!!!* http://www.o-books.com/product_info.php?products_id=654 'You were the picture of contented new wealth' is a gothic tragedy set in the nineteen eighties, bringing proper characterisation and a literary sensibility to the traditional horror story. * Irony alert. |

I don't think we can blame the author (whom I know nothing about) for this kind of vacuous comment. As I'm a good 20 years behind in my reading of literary horror - and hence not best placed to judge modern standards - I'll leave it up to the rest of you to judge Tariq Goddard's talents. |

Gawd, I'm fed up of people treating Horror like literature's poor relation... And to cap it all, the author stole a line from a Jam song(!) - the fiend! |

>>bringing proper characterisation and a literary sensibility to the traditional horror story.<< Cheeky b*****! As if no other writer has ever brought proper characterisation and literary sensibility to the traditional horror story! I guess we won't all be rushing out to buy this then? Mind you, the author does live in Wiltshire so he can't be all that bad ... |

Cheeky b*****! As if no other writer has ever brought proper characterisation and literary sensibility to the traditional horror story! Exactly! This offends me, and may directly affect my reputation as the Ernie Wise of horror writing! |
