Right, you folks. We've been having some disagreements, a bit of aggression and a bit of upset elsewhere on this board since I've joined (hey, it's not my fault is it? Were you like this before I joined?), so I reckon it's about time we started some positive thinking. I've therefore started this "happy thread" and I want you to all try and cheer me up (I'm a miserable sod by nature)! So, tell me something nice that's happened to you, or that you've heard/read about. Or something that makes you smile. Anything that will cheers us all up. Apparently, smiling's good for you - and laughter is even better. I can't think of any examples of nice stuff offhand, so it's over to you ... (BTW anyone who starts negative thinking on this thread will get a virtual kick up the backside from me ) |

Here's one... My five-year-old son said to me, in Italy the other week, upon realising that he loves the sea: "The sea is just a big bath without edges" |

Yesterday I saw a big black bra on the path in the city. Busty and proud it was. An old man with a walking was trying to get past it as if afraid to disturb it lest it attack him. |

As moderator, I'm afraid I've become a little institutionalised, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to delete this thread on the basis of its inflammatory nature. Sorry. You were warned. Read the guidelines. No good humour allowed here. Rancour, misery, arguments, shouting, name-calling, back-biting, neurotic projection, death threats - yes. Happytweelittlebunnyness - no. Out, Caroline - out you go!!! Provocative hussy!!! |

Saw a doctor the other day after experiencing moderate to severe chest pains. She told me that it was some sort of upper torso indigestion (something like that) and that my heart, according to her machine, was 5 by 5 and strong as hell. I was very glad to hear that. -Darren |

Alright then, Caroline. Ummm.... I stumbled across a used CD of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, HARD PROMISES (1981) - never heard the whole album before, but I thought it pretty damn good. Sounds like it could have been released yesterday. ... that's all I got.... |

I've got the ISBN number sorted for the Back From The Dead antho - and it'll be going to print by the end of next week. Also, all of the stories and copyrights have been cleared for the 1959 reissue of the Pan Book of Horror Stories after a bit of a struggle - and my introduction for the book is finished and looking good. Last but not least, I'll be working with a very respected editor on a new anthology this year which will be released next January. The theme is Jack the Ripper, but not in the old foggy london streets way. People will be asked to submit a story around May/June time... |

>>it's Sunday and the sun is shining<< Sun? We didn't have any sun here today - just damp, cold rain. Oh dear, you've all got into the spirit of happiness and I'm still fed up. Let's see, last week: 1. My fibromyalgia flared up 2. Our central heating broke down 3. The lock jammed on our front door 4. The cat got constipation and had to go to the vets for an enema (I can tell you, it's no fun driving back from the vets with a stressed cat and a pile of cat poo in a basket because he couldn't hang on to it till I got home ) BUT I'm still smiling, so it can't be all that bad, can it? |

I've just made an amazing discovery that's had me grinning very smugly since yesterday. I found a horror film that Lord P has NEVER SEEN. More than that, he'd never even HEARD of it! FYI: It's "The Children" (1980), which scared me silly as a kid. School bus drives through toxic nuclear cloud and turns kids into black-fingernailed zombies who kill their parents with a death-hug. Can't wait to see it again! |

Talking of Lord P (as Kate, Craig and Tony were), I haven't seen him here for a while. What have you done with him, Kate? Have you locked him in the attic like a crazy relative, or bricked him up in the cellar? |

I haven't done anything with the good Lord P. (I wouldn't dare!) Rest assured he's merely busy with his secret experiments in the laboratory. When he's not watching scary movies or exploring graveyards with me, that is. We're still both revelling in the joy of having someone to do all these horror-themed things WITH, rather than by ourselves. |
