Believe it or not, but Herzog has just made a kind of sequel to 'The Bad Lieutenant' with Nicolas Cage!!!!!
Maybe he really is insane.
And completely unconnected, but has anybody seen 'Knowing' with Nicolas Cage? I was about to dismiss it as another of those popcorn fests that Cage turns out once every month, it seems, when I noticed that the director is Alex Proyas of 'The Crow' and 'Dark City' fame. Is it any good? |

I actually quite like Nic Cage. He makes the popcorn fodder a lot more watchable than certain other actors we could mention. |

Weber - oh, I agree totally. Just wish he'd make more forays into serious cinema. Perhaps something along the weight and substance of Lord of War. If you haven't seen it, do! A black black comedy of sorts about arms dealing. Cracking finale that refuses to wrap things up with any neat moralistic sermonizing. |

Knowing is pretty good, if bleak. And I thought the ending was quite brazen. |

I saw the trailer to this ages ago (and posted a link on here at the time). It may be the first Herzog film I end up not liking. Apparently, old Werner never saw the original, and misread the tone of the screenplay, thinking it was a black comedy. It could be either very interesting, or just bad. |

I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be bad. Hope not. But you know Herzog, one minute mad as a hatter, but brilliant for it, the next mad as a hatter, and just plain silly. |
