Great collection, Tom! Where did you find those BBC dvds? I'd like to get my hand on them and on the others ("A View From a Hill" especially) if they're still available.

You have a very thick Flemish accent. I always strove to sound as 'BBC' as possible and up until the late nineties had the additional advantage of being in a position to converse with English people every day, but all that changed after my first trip to the States, when my accent was americanized a great deal. One can still hear I'm a non-native speaker, of course.

Hubert,

I think I bought them on amazon uk, but I am not sure anymore.
I am not sure if the other adaptations, such as A view from a hill, were once released on dvd, unfortunately. But I have them as well, in essence VHS tapes transferred to dvd - so so quality but better than nothing.

My accent is indeed quite heavy, while I too do speak english daily in my job. Well, my vocabulary is ok, that should make up for it.

I'll probably post a few more semi-improvised book reviews over the coming weeks - if I have an available 15 minutes here or there. The reactions tend to be positive until now, and I prefer the wide reach of the youtube channel over the niche forums such as this one or all Hallows. It's a way of bringing odd interesting writings to a much larger audience.

I know, Gary, but somehow 't aint the same. While YouTube is ok for first trials, the picture tends to be grainy and sometimes too dark to make anything out. I watched "The Signal Man" the other day (would love to vist the premises where this was recorded!) and if I hadn't read Dickens's original story I think I might have found it difficult to follow at times.
