This morning, dressed in lemon and lime, I walked from Clacton Pier to Walton-on-Naze Pier as part of the Lemon and Lime Charity Walk (accompanied by my daughter). Phew!

I completed the course - with a Sebastian Coe like surge in the last mile that took me past several walkers and into the leading group. Not bad at the age of 61. Sun off the sea. Beach huts ranked like spectators. Straw hat kept scorches at bay.

Gary, can you please delete that. Then I'll post a smaller one! Sorry

Ah, I was expecting you to be dressed from head to toe in lemon and lime - like in a lemon and lime jogging suit or something! Sorry, just being cheeky.

Splendid Mr Lewis! I especially like the hat - a nice, late-summery, slightly rakish touch

Thanks, John. The hat was rakish to match the angle of the sun from across the sea on my right hand side. I'll put a smaller version on if Gary takes that one off.

Pleased to report that I feel fine today after all that power-walking yesterday for charity.

I was hoping nobody was going to ask me that. Seven miles - but I did do it fast ad finshed (as far as I could tell) ahead of all people 60+.

Oooops, sorry! Trust me to ask when you didn't want anyone too.

That's 7 miles more than I could do - and I'm not over 60 yet! No need at all to feel anything but pride in doing what you did.

And as you were doing it for charity, is there any way anyone here who wanted to could sponsor you (retrospectively)?

Thanks for the offer, Caroline. But I've already sent the cheque off. It was a personal cheque, because I'm not really into asking people for sponsorship.
It was for Clacton Hospice and Essex Air Ambulance.
The pub quiz I attend each week is also for Essex Air Ambulance.

Oh well, it's not every day someone from Yorkshire offers anyone money!
