...but our own dashing and talented Simon Strantzas is now officially off the market.

I'm happy to report that he and his lovely mate Fran were married yesterday in Toronto.

Although highway construction, THEN road closures, then MORE road construction downtown led to my wife and I being late for the actual ceremony, Simon looked dapper and Fran looked lovely. We chatted with them in between photos/videos being shot for posterity by our own Adriana and Donald.

Then it was off to a fantastic reception where the company was great (Mike Kelly and his wife Carolyn, Ian Rogers and his wife Katherine, Donald and Adriana, and of course the Guests of Honour). The food was out of this world and Simon's Thank-You speech included a reference to lunging tentacles. It's doesn't get much better than that.

Congratulations to Simon and Fran! Long life to the Strantzases-es-es-es...

Congratulations indeed - I only found out about the date a week ago after Simon posted a comment on Facebook, although Fran's been listed as "engaged" on there for some time now....

Congrats to both the happy couple! Good health, long life and lots of babies- assuming they want some, of course, and that they're born without tentacles... :-)

It's should have been me...

He will be mine in the end, but in the meantime I wish the happy couple nothing but luck and happiness. And tentacles.

Belated congratulations, Simon! And I was saying to Ray Russell at Fantasycon that your Tartarus book leads me to think you've inherited the mantle of Robert Aickman in terms of subtle and enigmatic disquiet.

Don't encourage him. He can't get his fat swollen head out of the apartment as it stands.

Simon, that is high praise indeed. I have Cold to the Touch on order (should arrive any day now) and if it's half as good as Beneath the Surface it should be very special indeed. Having a book published by Tartarus must be a nice feeling. I think their books are among the very best being produced today.

Huw, it certainly IS nice to have a book in the Tartarus wrappers. There's something about a sewn-in ribbon that sets my heart a-flutter. I hope when the book arrives it lives up to Mike's and Ramsey's comments.

Karim: Many thanks!
