I know there's quite a good northern contingent here so I thought I'd post this. But please note, I definitely don't want to steal any thunder from the Fantastic Films Festival, which I believe is this weekend in Manchester? No, this is the Fanomenon strand of the Leeds International Film Festival from 4-22 November. See http://www.leedsfilm.com/programme-sections.aspx for the full programme. Scroll down to the Fanomenon section and you'll see they will have screenings of (amongst others): * 5150 Elm's Way * A Frozen Flower * Angel's Egg * Beacon 77 * Chaw * Coffin Rock * Colin * Crush and Blush * Doctor S Battles the Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies: The Movie (why does that title remind me of Lord P for some reason?) * Fantastic Planet * First Squad: The Moment of Truth * Gandahar * Heartless * Hidden * Invitation Only * Les Maîtres du Temps * Love Exposure * Macabre * Millennium: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo * My Girlfriend is an Agent * Norwegian Woods * Pontypool * Ponyo * Searching for the Elephant * Seventh Moon * Sodium Babies * Stingray Sam * Summer Wars * The Blair Witch Project * The Horde * The Human Centipede (First Sequence) * The Revenant * The Two in Tracksuits * The Underdog Knight * Vampire Girl Versus Frankenstein Girl A lot of these are showing in the wonderfully atmospheric old cinema, The Hyde Park Picture House - perfect! And check this out: http://www.leedsfilm.com/films.aspx?id=1143 Short Film City Opening Party: The Shorts of David Lynch All I can say is "wow!" |

Oh, that looks fantastic! How sad that I've lived so close to Leeds for years and had no idea all this cool darkness (or is it "dark coolness"?) was going on so close by? We missed Pontypool at FrightFest, which sounded terrific, so maybe we can catch it here. Thanks for the heads-up, Caroline! |

Doctor S Battles the Sex Crazed Reefer Zombies: The Movie (why does that title remind me of Lord P for some reason?) Caroline that's so sweet! I was looking through the programme and that title struck me as being very, well, me too! Lady P & I shall investigate.... |

Excellent - thanks for posting this, Caroline. I live in Leeds, so plan to check some of these out. The Human Centipede is top of my list. |

Oh, I missed that one on the list! (Filed under "T" - eh???) That was one of the most intriguing offerings at FrightFest and another one we missed. |

>>(Filed under "T" - eh???) << I just copied and pasted from the site, Kate - that wasn't me! Apart from the comment about a particular film title reminding me of your OH of course - that WAS me! I thought some of these would be of interest here. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think it'll just be the delights of The Blair Witch Project in the super surroundings of my favourite cinema for me. Oh and the David Lynch shorts. |

It all looks wonderful. Besides the Fantastic Film Festival in Manchester this weekend there's a new event over the Halloween weekend. Called Grimmfest (http://www.grimmfest.com/)it has some of the films that are showing at Leeds plus: The Descent II Dread Halloween Hellraiser Dawn of the Dead Bathory and lots more. Isn't it great how the north is getting more than it's fair share of horror film festivals? |

Ooooo, I'd not heard of Grimmfest before. Thanks for that one, Steven. I'm afraid my haloween weekend is already spoken for though - at a Doctor Who convention! And, if you're into live spooky stuff, there's also this: http://www.carriageworkstheatre.org.uk/page.aspx?parent=F6DCC1DF-20A1-4820-A517- D80E72AD5017&listing=f10b198e-83dc-4901-88c6-fe25e3403680 |
