Star of loads of films indeed, but to me he'll always be Walter from Asylum, chopping up Sylvia Syms and wrapping the bits in brown paper so he can run off with gorgeous American Barbara Parkins. |

That scene was the first image to appear in my mind, Lord P., after reading the news. Quickly followed by an image of Barbara Parkins. The Mephisto Waltz... Ooooooh... |

Annother one of those faces gone forever... RIP. Didn't he appear in a few horror films about that time? |

I can only recall his appearance in ASYLUM and an almost-cameo in an episode of Thriller at the moment. |

Just checked. The genre films of Richard Todd: 'The Interrupted Journey' (1949) 'Stage Fright' (1950) - one of Hitchcock's most underrated films! Stephen - not sure where you checked but you've missed Pete Walker's House of the Long Shadows where Todd plays Desi Arnaz Jr's agent. Mick - Barbara Parkins did a very nice Playboy layout the year she was in Mephisto Waltz, or so I have - ahem - heard |

She did indeed, John - I have a long memory for the important things in life, and I quite clearly recall seeing that edition of Playboy! |

I'll nominate NEVER LET GO as a real surprise - not just for Peter Sellers' portrayal of a sadistic criminal but for Todd's performance as a downtrodden salesman. According to Roger Lewis, the actors were originally cast in the opposite roles. Folk who have seen the film may imagine that (if you can). It was released uncut on British DVD with a wholly inexplicable PG rating, by the way. |
