Hilarious stuff. I'm also impressed with Matthew Holness as a short story writer. There was one in an Ash Tree anthology and one in 'The New Uncanny'. I'm sure there are a few others scattered about. He was also brilliant in The Office of course. |

The one in The New Uncanny was absolutely superb. |

I've never read any of his real fiction, but I'd love to. Marenghi's a wonderful creation. |

I was stunned that his story from The New Uncanny didn't make any of the Year's Best lists. In my opinion it's worth seeking out. I thought it was possibly influenced by the Landlord. Which is no bad thing. |

It was on Ellen Datlow's 'longlist' of honourable mentions for The Best Horror Of The Year 1. http://nightshadebooks.com/discus/messages/233/31565.html?1254590964 |

Cheers, Nat. I must've missed it. I knew that Ms Datlow has good taste! |

I, too, love the humble fabulist, shaman, and dreamweaver Garth Marenghi (one of the only writers you'll meet who've written more books than they've read). 'The Apes of Wrath' is a classic. |

We were lucky enough to be invited to see Garth on stage in Liverpool before he appeared on television. Luckily or otherwise, at dinner afterwards he transformed himself into Matthew Holness. |
