One of the greatest films ever made - the US remake of The Wicker Man - is on C4 next week. I certainly won't be missing it. There may or may not be sarcasm used on one or more parts of the above statement... |

At least it offers a few good unintentional laughs, such as the immortal line: "step away from the bike!" |

Alas, it's interminably boring - if it were bad but entertaining, that would be one thing, but the remake is DULL.... |

I think it was Simon Morden who came out with one of the best responses ever, when this remake was first being touted on the Masters Of Horror forum: "If you Americans dare remake this classic British horror and set it in the USA, we will remake Deliverance and set it in Wales - 'bleat like a sheep, boyo!' " |

I liked the review that said "I'm building a wicker DVD player to put this one in." |

Unfortunately, I will genuinely be watching this tonight... There is a reason. |

Sometimes when you go into a film with less than zero expectations, you're pleasantly surprised... In this case i wasn't. This wasn't as good as I thought it would be... and I think I've made it clear previously how good that is. |

>>Sometimes when you go into a film with less than zero expectations, you're pleasantly surprised... << You had me gasping for breath when I read that bit .. before I read the next bit! Like Stephen says, you're a brave man, Weber. |

I saw a bit of Wicker Man and wanted to see it all - it had something about it that made it feel unpredictable. It almost felt like a sort of odd comedy. My view of films; if you're not bored, it's not bad. |

Believe it or not, I found a worse remake last night... Day of the Dead remake, Day of the Dead turned into a teens in peril story complete with a friendly vegetarian lovesick zombie. Dire doesn't begin to describe it. The only reason I kept watching was because I was trying to work out where I'd seen one of the actors before. |

i liked the clip of Wicker man I saw. If a remake makes us reconsider the original I think that's good. It's like picking the original up and seeing another side of it. |

But if it just takes a big dump on everything that was good about the original... |

The bits I saw - I think I was watching it wrong. I think it was trying to do something different. Sometimes we go to things with expectations. Maybe this wasn't horror this time. |

It certianly wasn't horror. Not sure what it was. But it wasn't horror. |
