O.Peli's movie has just come out in Rome (rest of Italy too). It's unrated, so infants' hordes have been sucked into watching it. I haven't seen it yet, so I can't judge...if ever they let me see it because of a huge class action by families against it because of their oh so life- hardened hyper-pierced adolescent boys and girls coming out in shock, manifesting as vomit, insomnia, bodily tremors, panic attacks and whatever else deserving of psychiatric attention. Calls to medical emergenct are said to be countless. The anti-paranormal crusade is being led by gov'ment woman Alessandra Mussolini (yes, His niece!). I don't know what's the truth in the clamor but it seems utterly histerically paradoxical to me.

Should I have said "Para-hysterical Activity"? Or, maybe better, "Para-noical..."?
My general impression is the mass movement is not just against an especially tensive movie, whether a good movie or not, but both a political and familial conservatism cresting against whatever they suppose "horror" to be as soon the opportunity has arisen. Defending sons and daughers from Horror? Who's going to defend them from anti-horror parents? "THE STEPFATHER" movies comes to mind...my mind, at least....
Just delirious, sorry!

More than the movie, I think I'll be enjoying the ensuing TV talk-shows and the "wisdom" issuing from the media-people, especially the ones standing for the "save our children" crusade. Some frocked guy will probably remark that such movies are vehicle to the devil. The same is said about Tarot, ouija boards and Harry Potter literature....stern Catholics are even suspicious of LoTR (both movie and book)because anything about magic is corrupting to their virginal conception of the Soul. What their appreciation of Horror could be?
But...who cares, after all?

Point out to them that The excorcist is banned in several countries for being pro-Christian if you get the chance.

Eat your heart out, James Cameron - I bet AVATAR isn't causing any panic-attacks....

Seen "Paranormal Activity" at last. Pity I could not watch any TV talk show about the panic attacks issue because of my telly breaking down. I had a panic attack merely at the thought anybody could have suffered one, unless it's small children or demented adolescents. Decent movie for a domestic budget. A good idea at the core, nothing more. So to me it's neither thumb up nor down.
I'm expecting much of "WOLFMAN". Is it not yet out in UK?

Yes - it's not quite ok. In fact it really saddened me, watching the lost opportunity of it unfolding before my eyes. Lots of skilled people gathered rubbing sticks together like crazy, trying but failing to make a spark for an hour and a half. I was a bit heartbroken watching the efforts, to be honest, because I'd really been looking forward to it.

That may be part of the issue, Tony, and one which catches me time and again - I think Zed's way is the way to go - walk in with zero expectations.

I wish I could!
The general vibe in the audience was a little flat, to be honest. It just felt choppy and rushed, and not quite imaginative enough. I was wishing it was all mad like Frankenstien or Dracula, the Coppola/Branagh versions. Just a bit of oomph.

I was intending to see Wolfie last weekend but time beat me...

I have a feeling this one will slip past me.
