A child board has been set up on the BFS site for writers to be able to talk about their work, post news, blogs ...whatever they want. It is a dedicated 'home' where authors feel comfortable to promote themselves and chat to their readers. The TTA board used to have one and it worked very well. I found the work of Conrad Williams though it :>) 'This board is for authors (or artists) to start their own threads where they can take questions and discuss or promote their work. You don't have to be well-known to start a thread here, or indeed a BFS member. But please do stick to one thread (additional ones will be merged), and don't duplicate posts here that you have made in other parts of the forums. I'd also suggest that you set your personal thread to notify you of new posts in it. If asking questions of anyone in this board, please do bear in mind that there will often be periods where working writers need to get their heads down, and may not get the chance to drop by and respond straight away. Please be polite and patient. Thanks!' http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/forum/index.php?board=38.0 |

He was rubbing away with Brasso all night. You can see your face in it. |

He went to bed eventually...and then of course I got up in the middle of the night to knock on the door and found it was bust. He's fixed it now :>) |

It's not quite finished yet, but I'm quite happy. People had been asking for ages for a less blog-ish format. Now I've got to think about how best to arrange all the pieces... |

The author threads are up and running well. Over thirty authors have set up to tell us their news. I can find out about writers in one place and have access to their sites and blogs. Otherwise I might forget they actually have a site etc. |

There's something deliciously old-fashioned or netraditional about these author threads. Reminds me of when I first had the Net in 1999 and stumbled on 'Masters of Terror'. |

I'm getting so much out of them. I had no idea what most of the authors were working on etc...fascinating. I had a brief chat with Lucius Shepherd about themes...and I've just asked Lord P about a piano. I've yet to go to an event where he has found one.... It was set up too...to have news from artists. I've asked Vincent Chong and Steve Upham, and I've just found Edward Miller's site. |

Thanks Stu! I'll drop an email to them and perhaps one or two more and then I'm going to rely on authors telling each other. It is now looking like a great place to share news etc and will generate interest all on its own :>). |

All done Stu - thanks! If people can either email other writers/artists or tell me on here, I'm happy to drop them a line today. Rob Shearman and now over 40 authors in there now... |

Some of those writers aren't on this board so I sent a note to them last week. Pete Tennant has the invite under the Black Static news section on the TTA board so that is covered. Authors/artists are putting it up on their blogs. Some writers prefer not to have a web presence in that form so that is cool, too. |
