Recently my wife's old dad was round watching telly with us, harping on that this thing we were watching didn't have subtitles. 'I can't watch anything without subtitles!' he said (he's losing his ball bearings). I gave a sigh, and my wife said 'He fought in the war so we can be here watching this telly.' 'And if the nazi's had got in I wouldn't have been worrying about subtitles,' I said.
I might have been being a bit harsh.
