The new trailer for Four Lions is out... http://video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/four-lions-exclusive-trailer/2trpus57 Made by Chris Morris, one of my favourite, and in my view, important comedians and filmmakers in the country. Looks like he's going for a more traditional slapstick humour this time, judging by the trailer, although i'm sure the full film will be pretty dark and cutting in places. I think it's looking hilarious. My most eagerly awaited film of the year. I think i'd crawl over a hundred Avatars to get to it! |

Chris Morris is the closest thing Britain has ever come to producing a Frank Zappa or a Robert Crumb! Every single thing he has ever been involved with is pure genius!! Material to make you laugh out loud and purr with pleasure at the same time. Long live in-your-fucking-face satire!!!! |

I guess I just mean that if you pull out all the effusive stops to praise someone who's just pretty damned good, then it doesn't leave much discretionary power for language to describe those who are clearly worthy of such intense words as "pure genius" - you know, Bill Shakes, Luddie Beethoven, Wolfie Mozart, et al. Just an observation, me auld fruit. |

Also, it's a bit Paul Merton. I reckon this film will slightly change the world. |

But seriously, Stephen: Zed demonstrates above how language can be used accurately, without lapsing into effusive praise where it is only partly deserved. |

Then again, Zed can frequently be found with his hands in his pockets and looking for his mam at Status Quo concerts, so his opinion is not always to be trusted. |

Just watched that trailer. Looks all right, but I'm always wary of comedies which try too hard to be topical...from the above clip, this one could go either way. |

Yeah, I laughed, but have been ruminating miserably over it ever since, feeling sort of uncomfortable and realising it was this trailer that was responsible. We're dads now, Zed! It spoils everything. |

I think it looks brilliant. It's healthy to make comedy out of such subjects and it takes power away from those who wield such terror. |

My effusive praise for Chris Morris is in direct relation to the amount of po-faced criticism he took from the British establishment - to the point of virtually neutering his career after the brilliance of the 'Brass Eye' special. We lost a decade's worth of razor-edge satirical brilliance as a result. It's good to see him back at his in-your-face best! Morris is arguably the most important and certainly the most inspired TV satirist Britain has ever produced imho. |

Let's not forget Nathan Barley. That was superb. On occasion my job brings me into contact with such people so I know how accurate the show is. |

Never got to see 'Nathan Barley' but must get the DVD. I don't even remember there being much publicity for it at the time. Chris Morris was more or less persona non grata on British television for years after the 'Brass Eye' "controversy" which is an absolute disgrace imho... |
