Sigh - I saw him do such a visit (same land rover) to Gateshead. All too fleeting. Don't forget to watch the slideshow for that wistful feeling;

Matt Smith and moffatt are up here tomorrow, but only for schoolkids. I'm currently trying to blag my way in as a press member by saying I was in the local papers in the seventies for having written a short story and sent it to the beeb, getting praise from Anthony Read (then script editor, also for Hammer House of Horror.). Said I'd try and write an article.
You've gotta try, haven't you?

When is the new 'Doctor Who' starting?

I'm getting quite excited about it.

I've been avoiding as much as possible any of the build-up hype as I find it always contains spoilers, but, from the few clips I've glimpsed of Matt Smith he looks and sounds the part - quirky with something of Tom Baker's demented kookiness about the eyes.

Know what I mean...?

Tony - I'll pop over to my Yahoo account and email you back in a mo ..

Re the new Who, I've seen the trailer a few times and it's turning me off a bit. It looks so .. er, I'm not sure really .. maybe silly? But that's not quite the right word I'm looking for. It gives me the impression it's aimed at the Jackie readership. Do they still publish Jackie? Anyway, it was a mag for teenage girls - all the latest pin-ups, that kind of thing.

I must say I just can't get excited about the prospect of Smith's Doctor - but then I did like David Tennant's Doc, even though many of the stories were a let-down.

It got a good write up in the telegraph, the new first ep. They say we see Smith grow from boy to man in attitude in the space of the hour, and that he's much more confident in his time lord skin than Tennant was. They said he's a bit of a prince in waiting, in fact. That, and the Tardis has taps...
I can't wait.
Got the email, Caroline!

I thought he looked promising during the regeneration - it's just that trailer which has put me off!

Right - Aunty Beeb just told me the evnt is not open to the public, but I've got in touch with the press at the uni and am waiting to see what they say. Fingers crossed - I think; I'm terrified at the prospect of meeting them.

Forgot to say in my email, Tony - no pressure on you to say "yes" to my offer. If you've got something better lined up, no problem.

Hmm, just realised that doesn't sound the way it was meant.

Er, I know!
It's funny, but I'm not a fanboy of Who - I just loved it. I don't know facts or history of it, it just felt real to me as I was watching it, and I loved the character.

For those in the UK - Freeview channel 301 (possibly 501 but definitely one of those two) is running a Who trailer and the opening minute of the first episode on a permanent loop. I'm looking forward to it more than ever. The ending of the last episode seems like it's going to be used as an excuse to revamp the tardis control room again. We'll get to see why it keeps changing at last (and how).

Bought myself a Radio Times yesterday. I don't get it very often, but I normally do when there's a Doctor Who cover. But it made me realise something ...

You know you're getting old when the Doctor and his companion look *way* too young.

Anyway, I'll give it a go on Saturday - see how it goes.

Also on this weekend - a Jonathan Creek special. Looking forward to that.

I love the way he says "If you want a chance of seeing tomorrow, there's one thing you don't put in a trap. Me." at the end of the trailer on the freeview wotsit.

I'm avoiding all trailers, Weber... they always contain spoilers and I want to watch this incarnation of 'Doctor Who' totally fresh with no knowledge of what to expect!

Can't wait!

Me too. I'm trying to approach it with an open mind.

Stephen/Stevie - have you changed your name, that is are you the *same* Stephen Walsh you were before, or are you somebody different? That probably doesn't make much sense, but I've had a hard week!

Anyway, if you are the same you, do you prefer to be called Stevie? I've been calling you Stephen. Or have I been calling you Steve? I can't remember. Oh, I do wish people didn't confuse me like this.

Blame Weber (sorry, Mr Gregston) - he made me do it!

The same thing happened to me on the Pantechnicon forum. Somebody there started calling me Caz, and since it makes me sound at least 30 years younger than I actually am, I kept using it!
