I'm in a very marginal constituency so mine comes out at 0.901 - ie. 3.57 times the "average" voter power. Like I said on the other thread, I'm voting LibDem in the hope of getting rid of our sitting Tory MP. |

0.028 That's what comes from living in salford - They reckon it's an Ultra-safe but I think there could be an upset. They don't realise how unpopular Hazel Blears is with the electorate. |

0.066 Great. I like that none of the parties challenge David Cameron's assumption that cutting the number of MPs is just like a business having to cut back to be more efficient, when it's essentially making fewer MPs represent more people, and diluting the capacity of every voter in the country to decide who represents them... |

But you're a woman, Caroline - you shouldn't really have the vote in the first place! This system is all wrong! |

At least, I *hope* that was a joke Mick! In fact, they were saying on the news last night that we (women, that is) are quite important to the political parties. Apparently, we tend to make our minds up later than men, so they reckon they're more likely to be able to persuade us to vote for them. I think it must be the *male* politicians who've decided they might be able to talk us into voting for them. After all, no one with any sense would think they could talk a woman into doing anything. |

BTW I don't know about women making their minds up later than men. I always have to make my husband's mind up for him! |

Nathaniel has posted five-and-a-half minutes of funny stuff titled "Sir Ian Bowler Resigns" that's good at poking fun at a fair few people of all stripes. WARNING (for those of you who are delicate of nature): it's a bit sweary and naughty. |

In Belfast South, one person does not really have one vote, they have the equivalent of 1.077 votes. Voters in Belfast South have 4.26x more voting power than the UK average. The average UK voter only has the power of 0.253 votes. This is because most of us live in safe seats, where the outcome is pretty much certain regardless of how we vote. Belfast South ranks #4 out of 650 constituencies in the Voter Power Index. Hmmm... but seeing as we can't vote Labour, Lib-Dem or Tory (as if) I think that has to be taken with a hefty pinch of salt! SDLP all the way... we're still fucked though. |
