For those in need of a masterclass in 'portmanteau horror' - and I doubt there are many who do on this board, but quite a few film and TV producers of my acquaintance would benefit - the Amicus classic, TALES FR0M THE CRYPT, gets its first official DVD release in the UK this June.

I'm sure most of you will remember it. Joan Collins meets a serial killing Santa, Ian Hendry survives a horrific car crash, or does he?, Richard Greeene finds a new meaning in 'be careful what you wish for', etc etc.

For my money, the best of its kind, and the highlight of that wonderful Amicus series that so darkened our cinema screens in the 60s and 70s.

I've already placed my order.

I already have this. For me, FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE just edges it, but TALES FROM THE CRYPT is wonderful. I re-watch both every couple of years.

I'm going to raise my voice in support of I Tre Volte Della Paura (not Amicus, of course, but my favourite). Will we ever see both edits on DVD?

Wonderful news! I love the Peter Cushing story in Tales From the Crypt - made even more poignant by the fact that his real wife, Helen Beck, had died shortly before he filmed this and I think it was her actual picture - and her name, if I recall correctly? - which he used in the segment.

In fact, I prefer From Beyond the Grave too (again, Cushing at his best), but they're both absolute classics of British horror cinema IMHO.

I Tre Volte Della Paura is indeed brilliant, Ramsey. My favourite non-Amicus one.
