Just watched this British horror film tonight, as part of a double bill with 'Dead Of Night' (which I'd never seen before.) 'Dead Of Night' is (obviously) a classic. Also it was watched first, meaning the second half of the double bill had a lot to measure up to. But it measured up very well. It's the best British horror film I've seen in years- genuinely scary with a real, subtly built sense of dread, potent atmosphere, strong characterisation, excellent performances and also a blessed absence of shakycam, which is always nice. Two points of interest: they filmed it on the old Brookside set in Liverpool, and I worked with the director, Lawrence Gough, years ago back at Manchester Youth Theatre. The boy done good. |

Thanks Simon - I'd not even heard of this but I'll look out for it now. The premise does sound as if it could be done well on a small budget. |

Someone mentioned to me that this was filmed in Brookside Close... I can not confirm this of course. Over to you Simon. |

Salvage is on Sky at the minute, I think. I might try to catch it - although, Simon, me auld mucker, the last Brit horror film you told me was excellent (Autumn) I couldn't get on with at all. I tried again when it was on last week and thought it was terrible. |

It's very good - shot as part of the Liverpool City Of Culture initiative for very little money (about £250k), it takes off at pace and doesn't really let up. I really enjoyed it. |
