Searching YouTube for readings by my favourite writers is a habit of mine. (There are wose ones to have, I suppose.) Today my regular hunt for Ramsey turned up this great but brief excerpt of him reading a portion of "Laid Down":

It's nice to see that one of the viewers' comments acknowledges Ramsey's genius.

My own reading of Ramsey's work has been greatly enhanced by having seen him read live. I found myself much more able to latch onto the strange rhythm of his prose once I'd seen him demonstrate how he chooses to unfurl it.

Enjoy, RCMBers!

Thanks, Richard! Actually, it isn't "Laid Down" at all - I assume the folk at the newspaper can't get the identification changed.

Alas, Ramsey! What is the story you're reading? I'm not familiar with it, but I certainly wish to chase it down and discover how it ends.

Best,
Richard

I guess a lot has changed since the early stories were written, but wouldn't it be great to have an online guided tour of Campbell Country at some point . . .

It's part of a chapter from Creatures of the Pool.

Terrific. Thanks, Ramsey. I recently added the Tor edition of Creatures to my library. I'm looking forward to reading it.
