We had a drive into the Peak District, stopped in The ("Slaughtered") Lamb for a drink on the way, then carried on to Buxton. So what? Well, I'd been chatting with a couple of people of late about THE HUNGRY MOON, and we'd talked about re-reading it and how good it was, all the usual stuff about how brilliant Ramsey is. Anyway, there we are, driving through the High Peaks towards Buxton, and we notice a fair number of regatta-like processions, small decorations leading down all but invisible side streets to lonely villages. We'd arrived in the "well-dressing" season. Ha. What're the chances? We've been to the Peaks a few times, never run into the ceremony before. Funny we should do so on a day of celebration and festivities for us.
