I don't know if anyone else has been watching this E4/Channel4 programme but I've absolutely loved it.

It's a sort of version of heroes but entirely with a cast of characters from the chavvy end of the spectrum. These guys aren't likely to save the world with their powers that they developed after a strange storm.

The characters all manage to tread the fine line between bloody irritating and actually deliberately quite funny and sympathetic - with the exception of Simon who started the series as seriously creepy but became the show's most sympathetic character. As the show developed they all became more human and likeable.

The last two episodes in particular were fantastically well done, switching the mood from funny to disturbing with great style and panache.

The good news is that season 2 has been commissioned and will be out in November

Woo hoo! I can't wait.

Obviously I was the only person here who watched it. Which is a shame. this programme actually did what Heroes initially seemed to be trying to do. It gave a cast of very ordinary people "superpowers" and sat back and watched them try to get along with their lives. this lot are never going to go out and try to save the world. they're just going to have their lives massively complicated by these powers.

The scene where the character who has the ability to turn back time was trying to break up with his girlfriend but every time she got upset he felt guilty and time rewound to the moment before he told her was a brilliant scene. It was brilliantly funny but almost disturbing at the same time.

The programme also has some great horror moments. The end of the series was a classic example of how to make the audience not know whether to laugh or cry for the character.

I think most people here would enjoy it's bleak outlook, the bleached out colour scheme for the programme reflecting the characters' lack of hope.

I would highly recommend people to check this out on 4OD if they can - or check out the DVD.

I said November in the first post on this thread

BTW - for those with FX, Dexter season 4 starts this week and I can tell you it is fucking amazing. Possibly the best series so far. I have it on DVD that someone kindly gave me.

I think it started 2 weeks ago, Weber - Dexter, that is. 2 eps were recorded on our V+ thingy while we were away.

It's in the TV papers as starting this week - even though the article about it in one of them gives away the biggest shock of the series. It's also listed as ep 1 tonight in today's Metro.

If it is season 4 your V+ has taped you're very lucky - I would hate to have to wait a week between eps one and two.

Maybe it was an advance screening, or something? I checked the first few mins of the first ep recorded, and it had a catch-up, then started with the camera panning up and away from Jimmy Smit's dead body...can you recall if that's how the first one started?

Unless it's a repeat of the ast 2 eps from the previous season...?

Could be it's a catch up on the last 2. The first episode has a sort of rerun of the opening credits about 5 minutes in which is easily one of the cleverest and funniest things they've ever done in the show - the music is off kilter and everything he tries to do goes wrong. It needs to be seen to be believed.

Although he didn't kill Jimmy Smits till the last episode of season 3... or did he?

Did the flashback sequence end with the wedding? that was the last shot of season 3 - the blood rolling down Dexter's cast on his wrist where he broke it killing the skinner.
