Some girls dig bookish types, that's for certain! I don't think Mr Bradbury would be offended, at that.

I've converted it to an MP3 so everyone at the gym will wonder what on earth I'm listening to.

Thanks for that.
What a wonderful clash of worlds.
And it also made the horny sf geek inside me very happy.

Also, it's one of those catchy pop jingles that sticks on the internal jukebox. I'm gonna end up absent-mindedly singing it at work.
Uh-oh...

I look forward to her follow-up single. I'm told it's about Philip K Dick.

I think we'd all like to have a song like that sung about us.

Not just me.

I hope.

Wonderful. Just wonderful. And strangely poignant. It makes the idea of taking your favourite book to bed with you seem altogether different.

All through the song I kept waiting for Something Wicked to make an appearance, so the ending was perfect.

"Dont play this at work!"

I run the gift shop in Ray Bradbury's fetish dungeon, so no problems there.

The world turns like a crooked roulette wheel. Some live to 90, some get an arrow in the back barely into their 60s. Strange how something as inevitable as serious illness never loses the ability to shock:

http://blogs.suntimes.com/ebert/2010/08/traveler_to_the_undiscovered_c.html

I like Hitchens, sometimes dspite myself. Yes, he's a preening sophist, but anyone who could come up with such a zinger in response to Jerry Falwell ("he was so full of shit if you gave him an enema you could bury him in a matchbox") deserves respect.

I hope he lives a long time and the brush with non-existance makes him more vituperative and even less mindful of which fork to use at the table of rational debate.

Proto- absolutely. My respect for the man dipped somewhat over his support over the war in Iraq, but numerous other statements and actions of his boosted my respect for him. Not least the feature further down the link you posted, where he allows himself to be waterboarded. Jesus.

Agreed. Hitchens recent agressive contrarianism hasn't really stood the test of time, but his earlier indictments of Mother Teresa and Kissinger are full of the sort of 'savage indignation' that would have done Swift proud.
