Every time I see a thread with a similar title to this, I tune in excitedly - only to find that it's still not referring to the much touted Ken Branagh remake of the classic NIGHT OF THE DEMON.

I read something about this several years ago, and have heard nothing more since.

I thought it seemed like an excellent idea at the time, though I was a tad worried when Branagh was quoted as wanting to "move right away" from the original. Why move right away from something that was nearly flawless?

The thought of Branagh doing a remake of 'Night Of The Demon' is enough to give me sleepless nights!!

He may be from my hometown but the man can't direct for toffee. Look what he did to 'Frankenstein', or rather, don't look if you can at all help it!

I detest Branagh's FRANKENSTEIN far more, than my other famous film detestations. It is so bad, it's almost comedy... except, Branagh's direction and acting and everything - his stuff comes off as so affectedly self-aggrandizing, you only hate what you're watching.

Branagh's best roles? In CELEBRITY, as a whiney Allen-stand-in, totally self-absorbed, ego-maniacal and self-destructive; and in the second Harry Potter movie, where he plays someone... totally self-absorbed, ego-maniacal and self-destructive.

Oh heck, you had me in a panic there! I thought for one horrible minute someone had tried to remake Night of the Demon. If ever there was a film which definitely SHOULD NOT be tampered with in any way, this is it! And the idea that Branagh might try to do it ... arrrrrgghhhhhh!

I'm sorry I mentioned it now.

But isn't it at least time the DVD got a Region 2 release?

I think Brannagh's version of Frankenstein is okay, personally. But I also love Coppolla's Dracula, so what do I know...

I liked Coppollas DRACULA too. Even if it is flawed, compared to Branagh's version of FRANKENSTEIN...? It's like comparing Shakespeare to shit-smear.

I'm with you, Craig, Coppola's 'Dracula' is a fascinating movie, with much to commend it, but a complete failure as a horror film, and as a supposedly faithful adaptation of the book , whereas Branagh's 'Frankenstein' is just exceptionally awful on every single level you care to name. As an actor he's okay, if a bit ripe, but as a director he's utterly ridiculous imho.

One of the stories I heard concerning MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN was astonishing.

Supposedly, the production ran out of money part of the way through. This was offered as a kind of excuse for the movie's failings, but how any producer can budget so inadequately, or exercise so little control over his director that production suddenly stumbles because there's no cash left, is beyond me.
