Friday 10p.m.

Lisa Tuttle, Joel Lane, Stephen Volk, Allen Ashley Lucas and Allyson Bird.

'Get Real. The Use of Real-Life Issues in Fantasy and Horror. A panel looking at how weird fiction can often be the best tool to poke at the world around us. Whether seeking to inform, incite or simply offload, fantasists have often used the widest scope of their imagination to address society.'

Is the one on Nazi Cat Women of the SS - the Strange World of Sarban still happening? I was asked to be on it but I didn't have time to read all the stories.

Have all the panels been finalised yet? I emailed several months ago about being on any of the panels this year and have heard nothing...

I was asked to be on this one, but after doing that zombie panel on the Friday last year I'm keeping the Friday night free for socialising from now on.

Who's Allen Ashley Lucas? It is Allen Ashley with a new name?

I asked if I could send out news of this one. Guy must be working on them today and giving news to panellists as he goes along. We can get the news out whilst he is finalising a press release.

Perhaps there is another Allen Ashley, now, who is a writer?

Zed. Was the Zombie panel very late?

Ally- If I remember right, the panel ran 8.15pm. to 9.00pm.

Not, really Ally - about the same time. But we arrive early evening because we drive down after work, and we're starving when we get there so Friday is for solialising. Game face goes on for Saturday, though.

I haven't been asked either, but then again, I know very little and not being on a panel means I don't have to pretend to information that I haven't got.

Lord P, please tell me that "Nazi Cat Women of the SS - the Strange World of Sarban" is an actual panel, that you are on it, and that someone will record it using video or audio tape and I can then listen to it in the privacy of my own den (with the drapes closed and a fair amount of plastic sheeting covering everything)...?

Ian - it's true that I was asked to be on a panel at FantasyCon with that title but I declined because I couldn't read all the Sarban books in time. Lady P & I did manage to have some fun with 'The Sound of His Horn' and 'The King of the Lake', however, both of which are filled with deliciously morally dubious stuff, but as to whether the panel was actually finalised I don't know - hence my question above.

If it is happening I may well grab a place on it anyway

Simon Bestwick and Simon Kurt Unsworth...can you get in touch with me if you both want to be on the panel on Friday at 10p.m? (I asked Guy) it struck me and Joel that two co-editors fron Never Again on the panel is too much and I'm happy to step down and concentrate on promoting the anthology, and I have my own collection out (WARP), and I'm knackered even before the convention.

If anyone on the RCMB wants to donate a floorspace on which I could crash, in exchange for a copy of the (apparently worth £50) Man Who Collected Machen, then I'll be there at Fcon on Saturday.

On the other hand, withering stares of disapproval...

The top selling horror guys (Dean Koontz aside, I don't know what's going on there) all seem to have good hair. King, Herbert, Barker. That's one of the reasons I've always thought Zed will be a big hit. He has a fine head of hair.

Actually, I'd recommend it's worth staying into the Sunday afternoon if you can. I've seen Bryan Talbot's talk on the anthropomorphic tradition in literature (at last year's Leeds Comic Con) and it's well worth stopping for. If you're stopping for that, might as well stop for the raffle too!

…oh, sorry. These are the panels I'm participating in at Vancouver’s Convention of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Dang. I keep getting that confused. One require me to take the Canada Line to Richmond, one requires me to take Air Canada to England.

Well, it doesn't look very likely I'll be there; now down to about a one in four chance.

So it's likely you'll have to save that pint for me John F. Thanks for the kind thought, though.

Still, though it's certain my non-appearance will be a relief for some, I hope it might be a disappointment for others.

In any case, when it comes to the grand RCMB Saturday night curry, I'd suppose I'd have always been the one gazing balefully through the window & chomping on a bag of greasy take-away chips whilst being dutifully ignored.

Cold November rain and all that. Except it's not G&R, and it's in Sept.
