I pity Debbie's suffering. Here's some fun, though:

Boy, those Camel adverts take me back a bit - to the days when it was considered "cool" to smoke and ciggies were advertised everywhere. I must admit, I could never stand Phil Silvers, so I don't envy you having to watch that, Mick. |

I don't have to watch it, Caroline, but I feel I must! |

For me it's the next several months viewing sorted! 'Sgt Bilko' (as I tend to call it) is without doubt, far and away, hands down the single most memorable, timeless and hilariously funny sitcom that has ever been made - with the greatest ensemble cast ever brought together. As far as pure comedy gold goes this series is second only to Laurel & Hardy in my book - yes, that good!!!! The release of these DVDs, after long years of waiting, has me happier than I could even begin to explain! What a joyous winter it's gonna be!! |

I tried Disk one. Couldn't get with it. Prefer the Jack Benny Program. And Burns and Allen. |

Noooooooh! I've loved The Phil Sivers Show since I first saw it in the 'seventies - and an episode of it was the first thing I recorded with my first ever VHS recorder a few years later! Burns & Allen I like - Jack Benny I love , although I've only seen a tiny amount of his stuff, but I have to go with the populist vote on Bilko -I think it's wonderful. |

Bilko is one of the few shows guaranteed to make me cry laughing every single time. It's the wonderful cast of characters, the ingenuity of the scripts, the fine attention to detail and the contagious sense of fun one gets from the live, often ad-libbing, performances. Bilko, Doberman, Barbella, Henshaw, Ritzik, Grover, Paparelli, Fender, Zimmerman, the immortal Colonel Hall, etc... they're all enshrined in my affections forever more. |

How to spoil your thoughts on Bilko... Steve Martin film version... Or there was that version that seemed to get rid of all the comedy and seemed to be trying to be very worthy and all about racism. That really didn't seem to be in keeping with the spirit of the show. They even spelt the name wrong... missed a letter out. |

I get the feeling I might have lapsed into bad taste jokery here. |
