The title of that column, 'Desert Island Anthologies' reminds me of the long-forgotten anthology of humorous tales, Desert Island Decameron

I've long thought about "doing a Johnny Mains" and trying to get this back into print, or even creating a modern successor, but I have absolutely no idea how to go about doing that.

This anthology was the book that was read by Donald Hornig during the night of July 15, 1945, while he was guarding the first atomic bomb on top of the metal Trinity Test Tower during a thunderstorm, prior to the bomb's detonation the following morning.
