Apparently they think it's an old-fashioned hearing aid. Shame. I was hoping it was Captain Picard in drag.

That's really weird - if it's a hearing aid, why's she talking into it?

I think it's the Devil.

Great. World's first sighting of a time-traveller, and it's a fucking Hollywood agent.

Maybe it's a dictaphone.

Judging by her bulk, I can only assume she's wearing some kind of hefty time-travelling vest beneath her coat.

We must record this thread for posterity, just in case she accidentally drops a bucket on the little tramp's head and changes the face of comedy forever, in A Sound of Thunder-like fashion.

She's just hearing about all the fuss about her in 2010. She can't believe it.

Retrocausal, of course.

The most amazing thing about this video is something that nobody has yet commented on. Yes, the woman is a time-traveller using a modern mobile phone, but the gent in front of her has a futuristic hands-free phone which is so small it can't be seen at all!

The most amazing thing of all is that anyone believes this is anything more genuine than an ad or viral designed for some as yet unclear purpose.

I wonder what ringtone was on the phone back in the day, though. Silent movies, would it matter?

I am very sensitive and disinclined towards these things myself, Mark... but this one, if so ("if" - listen to me!) is so cleverly done, I can only tip my hat to it.

This might well be a viral. A similar story broke earlier this year.

What is 'a viral'? Are you implying the film is concocted and not really a 1928 footage?

I haven't looked into the background of this too deeply so it may well be genuine footage (just misinterpreted by our modern sensibility). But my spider-sense tells me to treat anything on YouTube with a modicum of scepticism until proved otherwise.

I wouldn't be surprised if a follow-on video is released where the woman is seen waving an i-phone or whatever and asks Chaplin for the lend of his charger.

I believe the footage was completely faked, staged - but cleverly so! I like that whomever did this, did it subtly, and not in-your-face-ish. The very - forget low-key, it's the non-key taint to it: THAT'S what makes it so compelling....
