Just found a copy of Sukiyaki Western Django in Poundland. Directed by noone other than Takeshi Miike and, strangely, apparently starring Quentin Tarantino in an acting role... That's got to be worth a quid of anyone's money. Also picked up the original Corman Little Shop of horrors and Stepfather 2 (which isn't great but it's worth a quid) |

I wouldn't call it "starring" Quentin Tarrantino; it's more like a special guest appearance. He features in a prologue near the beginning. It is a great fun film, though, and not nearly as gruesome as you might expect from Miike. |

Obviously, the prologue is at the beginning, not just near it. What can I say? I'm still waking up this morning. |

I tried to watch this the other week but turned it off after 10 minutes. I'm usually a huge fan of Miike, but for some unidefinable reason the film annoyed me. |

Talking of Takashi Miike, of his many, many films, these are the only ones I'd describe as horror: 'Detective Story' (2007) 'Masters Of Horror' episode "Imprint" (2006) 'Three Extremes' portmanteau segment "Box" (2004) 'One Missed Call' (2004) 'Gozu' (2003) 'Visitor Q' (2001) 'The Happiness Of The Katakuris' (2001) 'Ichi The Killer' (2001) 'Audition' (1999) ...most of his films are super-violent yakuza gangster movies, or manga-style sci-fi extravaganzas. |

I assume you didn't mention Multiple Personality Detective Psycho because it's a mini-series? I've only seen the first two episodes, but it has a horror vibe to it. Zed -- try skipping the Tarrantino bit and just jumping straight to the flick proper. QT is not much of an actor. |

Yep, that's the way I think... clearly, concisely, methodically and accurately - just like Auguste Dupin! |

Spotted tonight, going for £1 in that place again - the quite wonderful 'The Host'! One of the very greatest genre movies of the 2000s imo. |
