Is it me, or does this actually become really sad and uncomfortable by the end? http://enewsi.com/news.php?itemid=18233 |

Aww, poor Coyote. I always felt sad for the poor fella. Roadrunner is such an annoying little critter that I always wanted Coyote to get him in the end. Same with Tom and Jerry - my sympathies were always with Tom. I think you and I are probably just a bit strange, Tony! Funny, but I never realised until I got a lot older just how violent (and often horrific) the old cartoons I watched as a kid really are. And then there are fairy stories and nursery rhymes - now those are *really* horrific. Tales of old women imprisoning children, cooking and eating them (Hansel and Gretel), rhymes about people falling dead from the Plague (Ring A Ring A Roses). The list could go on ... |

I hate Itchy and Scratchy. In fact, I feel more at ease letting my kids watch Evil Dead (which we did last night) than those mean little 'toons. At least with Tom and Jerry the relationship was sort of rounded, Tom usually bringing things upon himself - the mouse just wanted to cross the room half the time. |

One of the greatest moments in the entire history of 'The Simpsons' is the Itchy & Scratchy cartoon that has been sanitised by Marge and her "mothers against cartoon violence" movement... I nearly bust a gut laughing at that one. |
