try taking your 60 year old mother to a motorhead gig... One of the wierdest and most fun nights I've had for a very long time. She pretty much turned into a teenage in front of me. I've never seen her so excited about anything. I did leave her to it in the disabled pod (she's been in a chair for as long as I can remember) and vanished into the crowd when Lemmy and Co took to the stage but by that point she was bopping away like a mad thing in her chair and didn't care. I also got a rather pleasant snog at the end of the gig from a random person in the crowd. Also notable for finding out that my mum smoked dope when she was young and using the word fuck in front of her without being told off (for the first time ever in my 39 years on this lump of rock) |

The gig was my present to her for her 60th birthday BTW |

Wow, that is surreal. I'll bet my mom smoked dope at least once, and did all sorts of God knows what - having come out to live in Hollywood alone, with her friends, in her late teens/early 20's. But if I ever found out about any of that, I think I'd have to poke out both my eyeballs and eardrums.... |

It always amuses me when young 'uns don't realise that their mums and dads used to get up to all sorts of stuff when they were younger too. Basically, if your mum/dad was a teen in the sixties, they probably did things you folks have only dreamed of! Glad your mum enjoyed it, Weber. Older folks can certainly let their hair down given the chance. You ought to see my dad! (and he turns 88 next week) |

Having read a lot of your fiction, Gary, that statement is deeper-fried than it seems? |

>>My mum never smoked dope.<< That's the thing though, Gary. She isn't going to confess to her son if she did, is she? |

My parents were incredibly L7. It's unlikely they did anything more interesting than my Father getting completely plastered on a pub crawl one evening, and my Mother drank a third glass of wine which made her "so tipsy!!" It's like having been brought up by Edwardians... |
