Sad news. A wonderful deliverer of very funny lines has flown his Airplane into the sunset.

Cheers
Terry

He was in Creepshow, too, of course. Airplane was a key film during my yoof. He'll be missed.

Awww no... not another one. This has been a bad month for losing good people.

Always a memorable screen presence: 'Forbidden Planet', 'The Poseidon Adventure', 'Day Of The Animals', 'Airplane!' & 'The Naked Gun' TV show and movies are my favourites. Add to that countless TV appearances in the golden era of the 60s & 70s, as one of those faces. Very sad news.

Great chap, by all accounts. Excellent actor. RIP, Leslie.

Forbidden Planet, will always remain one of my favourite movies. I always put it on at Xmas. It has that chilly, scary feel that a good ghost story has.

Beautifully made.

Very funny guy and a great 'Captain Kirk' precursor in Forbidden Planet...

And wasn't George Kennedy great in those Police Academy films too?

Very sad. To be remembered also as the ill-fated captain of the titular ship in THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE, and as the bad guy in DAY OF THE ANIMALS, a film notable only for featuring the two weirdest, spookiest goats in film history.

And now Irvin Kershner, director of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, is away too!

Okay, I know it's common for someone to be told someone famous is died, and that someone is surprised because he thought that person was already dead. But this time, I REALLY really thought Leslie Nielsen was dead, had been dead for years. Just the other day, I was thinking, sadly, there won't be anymore POLICE SQUAD movies, because Leslie Nielsen had passed away....

But it's so sad today to realize I was wrong.

Peter Christopherson, too. Nielsen, Kershner, and Christopherson. That's an odd trio.

Alas. I wonder if I can find his fauxtobiography in my boxes of books and fish it out for a read.

He was still active right up until the end -- there are a couple of films of his listed in production or post-production on IMDB.

Saddened to hear it- but he had a good innings and left behind an impressive body of work, at least. RIP, Detective Drebin.
