By no means. Though on the basis of this trailer it looks a bit generic. It should be a silent (or at least quiet) film in a more intense style than this. I loved the novel, which I read when I was nine or ten.

This feels like a ride, and the fact it's being made in 3D an for an obvious family audience shows it's not entrirely serious. But those landscapes are quite wondrous - those giant mushrooms! Pity such images are never married to a more serious treatment - imagine some real director of vision making a film with these ingredients? Sigh - not gonna happen, is it?

The actors seemed a bit 'Disneyish'.

Some great atmospheric shots at the start before they went into the cave though.

I saw this on telly a few months ago. All the dinosaurs in the film are shown in the trailer. It was a total wasted opportunity.
