On the whole I was amused when I stumbled on this: http://www.creepypasta.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&p=80130 |

I only hope Nemonymous' erstwhile existence over ten years to facilitate late-labelling of by-lines (with the author's agreement) did not encourage (nor now condone) this sort of behaviour! |

I'm impressed by JDS's wit and energy. The whole scam is the kind of thing that would be brilliant in a creative writing group or university creative writing class. Online it's questionable. Does the end justify the means? That's for Ramsey to say really. I'm also impressed that JDS is still posting after his official demise. |

Reminds of the time when Albie submitted one of Thomas Ligotti's stories to a magazine. I think it was accepted if he promised to rewrite certain passages. |

This reminded me (with a shudder, I might add) of some of my creative writing groups at university. I agree with Joel and feel JDS draws attention to the mean-spirited attitude many feel is integral to criticising unpublished or amateur (not meant in a derogatory sense) writers. I lost count of the amount of times I left Creative Writing workshops feeling completely deflated, even slightly humiliated, after some unnecessarily brutal critiques were aimed my way. I'm not saying I condone the poster's methods but I can certainly see his point. It's just a shame arguments can never be won or conducted rationally over the internet. |
