My brand new collection, The Brothel Creeper is now available for pre-ordering. The book will hopefully be published in March.

{image}

It is being published by the wonderful Gray Friar Press. I don't mind saying that I consider The Brothel Creeper to be my strongest, most serious and darkest collection to date. The unifying theme behind the 20 stories featured in the book is sexual and spiritual tension.

Anyone who bought a previous Gray Friar Press anthology, Where the Heart is, and read my contribution to that volume ('The Cuckoos of Bliss') will have a fair idea what to expect with The Brothel Creeper. More details are available on the publisher's webpage here:
http://www.grayfriarpress.com/catalogue/brothel.html

Thanks for listening!

This looks and sounds good! Tell me honestly, guys, I really enjoyed "Cuckoos of Bliss" - thought it was an amazing story. So, am I going to enjoy this collection? Should I shell out my hard-earned cash to buy it? I know you'll advise me honestly, without any thought of hooking me as a potential customer.

(What's more, are you offering signed copies? I don't think I have young Rhys' signature in my collection)

Are you going to enjoy it?
I'll say "yes!" to your question Caroline.
It's almost certainly going to be more up your street than my other books.

It's a collection of serious toned fiction.
Almost no puns, postmodern whimsy, etc.
I wanted to create a much darker book this time.

Am I being sincere?
Yes, I am.

Caroline has bought The Brothel Creeper cos I lured her with a cunning deal.

Folks should know that if they buy a couple of books from GFP, they'll get the free jacketed signed hardcover of Stephen 'Ghostwatch' Volk's novella Vardoger ABSOLUTELY FREE!

He did, indeed. I didn't want to mention it in public - a young fella tempting an older woman with a freebie like that - but since he's come out in public now, I'll admit it. For you, Gary ...

Rhys - have you ever visited Punter.net? I have, and it's absolutely fascinating and sinister, but also sort of affecting in places. I used to trawl through the reviews as if gripped by some weird novel.
Erm, I never USED the site, btw!

And Rhys, it says on your blog you were quite naughty at school - is that true? My youngest is being a bit naughty at the moment at school and I'm really scared for him. He likes reading and likes films but seems a bit insecure. Are you able to offer some comfort?
:-(
And talking of punters, does anyone know where GCW has gone?

It's reviews of prostitutes, Caroline. It's quick shocking, but also really sometimes cosy in descriptions like 'they make you a cup of tea' and 'they talk' and 'they kiss'. I'm probably painting a brighter picture than it is, but that stuff's still there. Also, you get odd clues into the characters of these women, and can tell when you cross reviews that they like some blokes more than others. I found it fascinating.
I stumbled on it, then was shocked, then was just really interested. I thought it was a joke at first, something to do with Viz.

Blimey! I didn't know there was somewhere on the net where prostitutes were reviewed!

Now, if you read my other post (on your thread about that poor girl who died after a dodgy procedure on her bum) you'll see that I stumbled across a bodybuilding forum too. It's very strange the things we stumble across when we're looking for something else, isn't it?

Huh? It doesn't say that on my blog anywhere!
Are you sure you didn't look at the blog of Rhys Hughes, the Shirehorses bass player, by mistake?

It's true that I stole sulphuric and nitric acid from the chemistry labs.
But that was so I could make nitro-glycerine at home. And other types of explosive.
Gun cotton and cordite, as it happens.
I did cause an explosion in class one day.
Funnily enough, I was never reprimanded.
And at college I was even encouraged in my hobby.

Maybe mischeivous? It says you/he found bhuddism and changed. Unless the bass player has also written 576 stories or so in his spare time (I've not even THOUGHT of 576 stories!).
