I need a name for a shreddie in the story I'm working on at the moment...

Does anyone want to volunteer their name so they can read their gory death in a zombie apocalypse world?

A little bit more detail - the story is based on a nightmare I had while reading Wayne Simmons' Flu - so the central 2 characters are Wayne and Simone. It's set in a very similar world to the Wayne Simmons book but I'm throwing in a few extras that I don't recall ever seeing in a zombie story. The central story is about a mother's love for her baby in a ravaged world while her husband goes looking for food. The shreddie will have an unusual death to say the least...

I'm up for it, but I reckon you should kill Caroline.

I have a friend who would like to be killed. His name is Adolf Oliver Nipples.*

He has a buddy too who wouldn't mind, Otto B. Kilt.*

Awww, too late! I'd love you to kill me, Weber - slowly and painfully. Perhaps you could kill Mick this time and me another time?

PS: Thanks for thinking of me, Mick!

... I think I already am, Weber!

By the way, did you folks know that there's a Ramsey short story - "Kill me Hideously" I think it's called - where the main character is named after a lady who either won a raffle or a charity auction prize in order to be a character in a story of his? Now that would be the ultimate prize for any fangirl/fanboy - to be a character in one of Ramsey's stories!

I am happy enough to be a character (a Belgian pirate!) in Rhys Hughes' recent Corto Maltese tribute novella.

I'm sad (happy) to announce that Ms Caroline Callaghan and Mick Curtis have now passed into the afterlife... Caroline has done it twice.

In my story obviously.

Anyone know any good markets for an 8k word zombie apocalypse story?

(thinks: if I keep quiet, will everyone think Weber isn't talking fiction and start to say what a lovely lady I was on this my obituary thread?)

Can anyone suggest a market for an 8.5k word (rather unpleasant) zombie apocalypse story?

First comments about the story... Me rather proud to be smacking readers round the face.

Oh wow, what an ending! I loved it! ... the final realisation hits the reader smack around the face when it comes.

There were a couple of other comments, slightly more critical, but they were mainly nit picks (quite good ones too which have improved the story) and one major error in the narrative that I hadn't spotted.

I'll be doing a small rewite next week when I've got a bit of distance from the story and I'll be able to chop bits without fretting so much.

I think it was me wot said that, wasn't it Weber? I've been nit-picking it too - it's the 'make-believe' editor part of me which has a nasty habit of doing that!

Believe me, one of the reasons I've been sending it to peeps is to get opinions and nit picks. I'm very greatful for your comments. I've made half a dozen small changes and it's already reading more nicely than it did.

Next week the scissors come out though...

Are those scissors meant for the story, or for Caroline?

Yikes!!

Mind you, you should see what he's already done to me (in the story, that is).

I read it last night, mate. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Is it the original version? Have you found a market for it yet?
