I was dusting off some old DVDs the other day when I noticed a couple of taglines which made me chuckle (mostly because they're so corny):

The Abominable Dr Phibes - "Revenge is the best medicine"
The Terror - "Terror is just a scream away"

Of course, some taglines are probably better known than the films. Is it Jaws 2 which has the famous tagline "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water"?

So, does anyone want to share their favourite film taglines?

From which posters are these tags?

"The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known!"

"Handcuffed to the girl who double-crossed him."

"His story will touch you, even though he can't."

"Exterminate all rational thought."

"The future is history."

"Are You Watching Closely?"

"Handcuffed to the girl who double-crossed him."

That couldn't be The Thirty-Nine Steps, could it?

I'm probably way off!

Haven't a clue about the others though.

'Can a full grown woman truly love a midget?'

It might be perceived as politically incorrect but it certainly caught my attention.

For pure hysteria, I like the ones below - which come from two very different haunted house films.

"For the sake of your sanity... pray it isn't true!"

And...

"FOR GOD'S SAKE GET OUT!"

"Be afraid... be very afraid" was the Cronenberg version of The Fly, wasn't it?

If the second one's not Psycho II, then it must be Psycho III. My guess for the first one would have been the same as Stevie's. It does sound damn familiar though...

And the two John's have guessed correctly

Some more

You've read the ad, now see the movie

There's a new reason to be afraid of the dark

...to avoid fainting, keep repeating "it's only a movie, its only a movie..."

"Scream now, while you can still breathe."

A singalong story of gold, cannibalism and a simple man's love for his horse

"From the brother of the director of Ghost."

'...to avoid fainting...' - would that be The Last House on the Left?

What about this one:

'The hills are alive with the sound of screaming.'

I've not seen the film it's from but everything I've heard about it (including that tagline) has made me eager to rectify this.

I always hated the really lazy one for Hellraiser 2.
Hellraiser was - "It'll Tear Your Soul Apart"
Hellraiser 2 was:- "It'll Tear Your Soul Apart. Again."
Yeah, well done team.
