I have been writing fables. Don't know why, just have... Anyway, here's a list of all the fables I have written so far. I'll keep adding fables every few days, so this list will grow: http://rhysop.blogspot.com/p/list-of-fables.html In keeping with tradition, each fable is immediately followed by a short pithy 'moral'. There will be illustrations soon, drawings and photos... So far only 'A Lot of Bottle' is illustrated. At least two of the fables are directly related to horror writing -- 'An Horrific Outcome' and 'The Addict' -- but here's something there for everyone... Or is there? Bye bye! |

Very personal, Rhys. I wouldn't say either was by any means directly related to horror writing, though. |

Yet another slap on the wrist for me? How sore I'll be if this continues! Not sure what's "personal" about anything I've written, to be honest, Ramsey. I can't see how anyone could possibly be offended by it -- unless they take themselves way too seriously, that is... |

Forgive my ambiguity, Rhys. I meant personal in the sense of epitomising the author, as I might describe Vertigo as Hitchcock's most personal film, for instance. |

I've just added another five fables to the site. I'm especially pleased with 'Don't Shoot the Messenger'. Here's the complete list so far... Click on the title to read the relevant fable... http://rhysop.blogspot.com/p/list-of-fables.html Incidentally, if anyone ever is offended by anything I write, just tell me and I'll change or delete it. My mandate isn't actually to offend people. I come from a background where the humour is a little bit more 'robust' than it is in other walks of life and I sometimes forget there are different conventions of manners in different contexts... Ten years ago, when I was thinking about the nature of my possible internet alter-ego, I narrowed the choice down to two options: jester or puppet-master. I'm glad I chose jester, because the second option would entail the stress of always being right and I'm far too clumsy for that. These days I can barely write a sentence on a messageboard without a spelling mistake somewhere... |

No spelling mistake there, as I far as I can see. Regarding the other matter, Rhys, people should read your story: "The Candid Slyness of Scurrility Forepaws". |

Thanks, Rhys. That's good to know. And I'm not being ironic. |

Rhys, I've have to take you seriously for you ever to offend me - and that'll never happen. That isn't a personal insult, btw: I take no one seriously. Especially myself. |

Rhys, I was offended by the entirety of Mister Gum. Your attempts to subvert such basic tenets of good writing as "show, don't tell" threaten our entire literary cosmos! Not to mention all the gooey man-stuff that was flung about!! I trust you will "change or delete it" without delay!!! |

Three more fables added this morning... http://rhysop.blogspot.com/p/list-of-fables.html Stephen: you're right, I should have been more precise in what I said above. What I meant was that if I ever offend any innocent people I'll be more than happy to change or delete my comments (if I can). Guilty people need to be satirised, of course: that's my moral duty! |

Innocent people? Does such a thing exist outside of a fable? I think not. Then again, I am a miserablist. |

Another four new fables added, including this one about an elephant and a tree: http://rhysop.blogspot.com/2011/07/trunks.html Click on 'List of Fables' to read any/all of the others... |

Five new fables added to Rhysop's Fables. One of them is about Neil Jackson of Ghostwriter Publications. Can you guess which one? It's not this one, though, which is about satire that's in bad faith... http://rhysop.blogspot.com/2011/08/might-be-triple.html |
