Any folk who will be in London some time before mid-January should get along to Tate Britain and see this:- http://www.tate.org.uk/britain/exhibitions/johnmartin/default.shtm?gclid=CKmR0eH mjqwCFYQPfAodQ10JqA Debs and I went to this today and it's wonderful - we'd seen the end-of-the-world tryptic a few times before as it lives at the Tate anyway, but it's still stunning however many times I see it, and some of his other works are amazing. Go. |

I love John Martin's triptych. I find it genuinely sobering, despite being an atheist. And yes, that trailer is fantastic. |

And if you're going to see the John Martin exhibition, you might like to go on this particular evening: http://www.britishfantasysociety.co.uk/news/pandemonium-launch-stories-of-the-ap ocalypse/ I'd love to be able to go to that exhibition myself but, sadly, I'm nowhere near London. |

Hitch down, Caroline! Ooh yes, forgot to say that BFS members can get into the Martin exhibition at a reduced ticket price. Debbie's a Tate member so we got in free ! |

Mick, surely the highlight of your visit to the Martin exhibition was bumping into me there? |

Yes, we saw that, Ramsey - interesting to see. Stu - of course meeting you was the highlight of the exhibition, and it explained a strange feeling I'd had for days; that of being followed... |

Annoyingly, Sheffield's Fopp closed a couple of years ago. Now all we've got is hmv, which has a much higher commercial dross ratio and is nowhere near as interesting to browse. |

I think Fopp is now owned by HMV - hopefully they'll not let it turn into HMV though. |

Went DVD shopping in Manchester's Fopp on Halloween. Came back with a copy of 'From Beyond The Grave' as well, funnily enough, Stu? And 'The Ward', which was bloody good. Genuinely scary (ending was a bit weak, maybe...) Oh, and a John Carpenter box set... I can resist anything except temptation.

I can't bear to be in the same room as anything by Martin. Almost any big paintings in fact. I just feel overpowered. |

Saw it on Sunday and paid full price dammit because I didn't know the BFS connection. Never mind, it was spectacle and wonder. My favourite is "Belshazzer's Feast" so much happening. Regards terry |
